EDITORIAL

November 26th the website www.santegidio.org opened with a new editorial and graphic design. It is an effort � successful, we hope � to follow the initiatives, the resources and the documentation that the Community of Sant�Egidio offers through the site and at the same time, to make navigation easier.

Some initiatives have been given a greater space, like the First International Day against the death penalty, or the congress organised to celebrate thirty years of friendship with the elderly � and we have created a �showcase� where books will be presented: for the moment there is the 2003 edition of �The Word of God Every Day� (in four languages).
Even the news are now on the homepage, for a readier access to them.

We would like the site to be easily accessible to everybody, all over the world, even in Africa where the internet is harder to use because of the slow telephone lines and poor structures.
The internet can also be an important means of communication for mentally disabled people. That is why for the European year dedicated to disabled people, which was inaugurated on December 3rd, also the �Voice of the Friends� is undergoing a renewal, starting from this week.

And now, in these last weeks before Christmas, a call to solidarity comes to us from the children and teenagers of the Land of the Rainbow who are filling the squares of Europe with their recycled toy sales. Last year their work provided for a year�s treatment for 3100 children with AIDS in Mozambique. This year many other groups and associations have joined this initiative which puts together solidarity and love for the environment. Let us wish them a great success!
