President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano opened the exhibition "Noi, l'Italia" (Us, Italy)

"Once again the creative skill of people with disabilities and their commitment to take an active part in the social and civic life of our country vividely emerged". These the remarks of the President of the Republic of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano, at the opening of the exhibition "Us, Italy", on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The exhibition is staged in the Hall of Flags of the Quirinal (the Residence of the Italian President) and hosts a hundred and fifty works and texts by disabled people of the Art Workshops of the Community of Sant'Egidio.
The Catalan artist Anton Roca contributed to the exhibition, producing the sculpture "tavolo ITALIA" (“table ITALY”), while the design and set up was organized by Architect Federico Lardera.
President Napolitano visited the exhibition which was illustrated by the President of the Community of Sant'Egidio, Marco Impagliazzo, and curators Simonetta Lux and Alessandro Zuccari. He also met some of the artists of the Art Workshops.
The Minister of Public Health, Renato Balduzzi, and the Minister of International Cooperation and Integration, Andrea Riccardi, also attended.
