As every year, on the evening of September 17, in the Jewish neighbourhood of Antwerp, the Community of Sant’Egidio with the Jewish community organised a candlelight in memory of all the victims of the nazi persecutions. Its title was “Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it”. Hundreds of people took part in the final ceremony at the Monument in remembrance of the deportation. From 1942 to 1944 15.000 Jews were deported from Antwerp to the lagers. |
