TIRANA - "Politics is not merely the art of organizing and governing the masses. It is mainly and primarily the act of establishing the values ​​and the ideals with which to guide people." This is what the Argentine Rabbi Abraham Skorka said, speaking at the International meeting "Peace is always possible" organized in Tirana by the Community of Sant'Egidio recalls.
The rabbi highlighted the relationship between religion and politics, inviting us to avoid mixing the two  and talked about the "prophetic role" that people of faith can have. Representatives of religions, Skorka said "should act as the conscience of political leaders", giving a high importance to matters concerning justice and peace. They should do - he continued - "like the ancient prophets of Israel who brought the religious tradition to influence current issues."
