Yesterday at the headquarters of the Delegation of the European Commission in Rome, a meeting was organized with the Community of Sant'Egidio on the humanitarian corridors.
During the meeting, introduced by the representative of the European Commission Beatrice Covassi, Daniela Pompei of the Community of Sant'Egidio, explained to diplomats from 16 European countries the project of humanitarian corridors, explaining its replicability. It was stressed that the issuing of visas for humanitarian emergencies is already provided for in European legislation and that the refugees involved in the project meet the vulnerability criteria defined by the United Nations.

In addition to the technical aspects, there was also talk of the system of reception and integration, a key part of the project of humanitarian corridors. The reception and integration are entirely borne by the associations involved, and supported by the generosity of many citizens who want to help in the reception of refugees. Several diplomats have expressed interest, with questions and requests for further information, in the hope that soon other European countries can open humanitarian corridors for refugees.
