This morning at the Presidential Palace, the President of the Philippines, Benigno III – Noynoy – Aquino, received the visit of a delegation of the Community of Sant’Egidio, led by Marco Impagliazzo.
The meeting was an opportunity to face several topics which are the object of ongoing collaboration between the Community of Sant’Egidio and the Philippines: the campaign for the abolition of the Death Penalty – several major cities in the Philippines are Cities for Life – and the welcoming of immigrants in Italy.
The President of the Philippines was particularly interested in the commitment to peace of the Community of Sant’Egidio, particularly with regard to the 20th Anniversary of the Mozambique Peace Agreement, and he wished that collaboration in this regard may grow.
Minister Teresita Deles, Government Delegate for Peace Processes was also present at the meeting.
